Mineral County was established in 1866 and it is located in the eastern region of the state. With a population of approximately 28,212 the county has a total area of 328 square miles, and the county seat is Keyser.
The northern terminus of the Allegheny Front in West Virginia lies in Mineral County, and contains the highest point in the county. Known as the Pinnacle it is 3,104 feet above sea level. From the abandoned fire tower four states are visible.
